On the Northern side of Nashville, where Davidson and Sumner Counties meet, lies Hendersonville. The city known as the "City by the Lake", due to the 26 miles of shoreline, was first settled by Daniel Smith in 1784 but was named after William Henderson who came in 1790. The area's population remained relatively small until the Old Hickory Dam was constructed in 1954 which created Old Hickory Lake. The city's population began to increase in the 1970s and has been growing ever since with the most recent estimates to be just north of 57,000 residents. Some of the most notable residents include the late Johnny and June Carter Cash, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, and more recently Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift who graduated from Hendersonville High School. Hendersonville has a special, laid back, lake town feel, but with an abundance of ranch style homes, numerous large lake lots and and explosion of new construction, this is a town on the move. Like many of the other recent population explosions in the Middle Tennessee area, Hendersonville has seen an increase new construction homes as well as new commercial developments with the development of the Streets of Indian Lake which has added new dining, shopping, and business options, as well as an improvement in the local public school systems. Come see why HALO Realty is proud to call Hendersonville home.
